Image reconstruction method for dual-isotope positron emission tomography

چکیده
We developed a positron emission tomography (PET) system for multiple-isotope imaging. Our PET system, named (MI-PET), can distinguish between different tracer nuclides using coincidence measurement of prompt gamma-rays, which are emitted after emission. In MI-PET imaging with pure emitter and prompt-gamma emitter, because the imperfectness gamma-ray detection, an image taken by is superposed positron-{\gamma} emitter. Therefore, in order to make isolated images we reconstruction methods based on data subtraction specific MI-PET. tested two methods, reconstructed sinogram data. both normalization position dependence {\gamma}-ray sensitivity required addition detector normalization. For these normalizations, performed scans cylindrical phantoms positron-gamma emitters Sc-44m Na-22. A long period activity decay (Half-life 58.6 hours) elucidated that acquisition ratio gamma-rays coincided event changes basis object activities. correction method involves parameters dependent activities, i.e., counting rate. From analysis dual-tracer phantom images, gives higher quality than those from subtractions. Furthermore, dual-isotope (F-18-FDG Sc-44m) mouse imaging, concluded our be used practical living organism.

A New Algorithm for Image Reconstruction for Positron Emission Tomography
In Positron Emission Tomography, penalized iterative algorithms like MAP often results in over smooth reconstructions due to over penalizing nature of the assumed interacting potential. These algorithms fail to determine the density class of the estimate and hence penalize the pixels irrespective of the density class. In this work, a fuzzy logic based approach is proposed to model the prior whi...
متن کاملPenalized weighted least-squares image reconstruction for positron emission tomography
Presents an image reconstruction method for positron-emission tomography (PET) based on a penalized, weighted least-squares (PWLS) objective. For PET measurements that are precorrected for accidental coincidences, the author argues statistically that a least-squares objective function is as appropriate, if not more so, than the popular Poisson likelihood objective. The author proposes a simple ...
متن کاملLevel Set Method for Positron Emission Tomography
In positron emission tomography (PET), a radioactive compound is injected into the body to promote a tissue-dependent emission rate. Expectation maximization (EM) reconstruction algorithms are iterative techniques which estimate the concentration coefficients that provide the best fitted solution, for example, a maximum likelihood estimate. In this paper, we combine the EM algorithm with a leve...
متن کاملSimultaneous Reconstruction in Dynamic Positron Emission Tomography
In this paper we study the problem of reconstructing simultaneously a sequence of images in a dynamic PET study. In our algorithm we will make use of the fact that the morphology does not change by much between adjacent frames. Together with a total variation prior this will be shown to reduce the noise level considerably, without corrupting the individuality of the frames. Simulation results a...
